Collection 11
Off-Season Sea
An empty coast in bad weather, photographed in a coat. Flat sea, flat sky and wet sand leave nothing in the frame to compete with the subject — which is the whole point of going out of season.
The coast out of season is one of the few places left where nothing in the frame competes with the subject. Flat sea, flat sky, wet sand, and a horizon that stays exactly where you put it.
Every frame here was made in a coat, because it was cold enough that anything else would have shown. That constraint turned out to be useful: the set has a uniform silhouette from the first frame to the last.
